Fund This: 'The Princess Who Saved Herself'

A children's book by Greg Pak and Takeshi Miyazawa, based on the song by Jonathan Coulton.

Here's a cool book project that is worthy of your crowdfund support... The Princess Who Saved Herself is a children's book written by Greg Pak and illustrated by Takeshi Miyazawa. Based on the beloved song by musician Jonathan Coulton, it tells the story of an awesome kid who lives with her pet snake and plays rock 'n' roll all day. Greg describes the book as "exploding the princess myth for a new generation of awesome girls."

It looks totally rad. Here's a video of Greg and Jonathan with more info:

More details:

The Princess Who Saved Herself reinvents the princess myth for a new generation of proactive girls, telling the story of an awesome kid who lives with her pet snake and plays rock 'n' roll all day to the huge annoyance of the classical guitarist witch who lives down the road. Hijinks, conflicts, and a fun reconciliation ensue, all showcasing determination, bravery, and understanding.

The book was created as a stretch goal for Coulton's and Pak's Code Monkey Save World graphic novel Kickstarter (which was also based on Coulton's classic songs) and has already been delivered to CMSW backers in digital form.

The great news? The book's already been written, drawn, colored, and lettered! We're just looking to raise the money to print the thing as a beautiful hardcover and mail it to you!

The book is done. A digital version of the book is already out there. Now it just needs a proper print run so kids can enjoy the book while holding it in their grubby little hands. That'll be covered through the money they're raising through Kickstarter Here's the wildest part: The Princess Who Saved Herself is already fully funded.

Whaaaaaat?

This morning, Greg sent a message my way with the heads up that the Kickstarter campaign was a go. Cool. Then I went the dentist. During the ensuing hours, by the time I got back from my appointment, the Kickstarter campaign had already reached its $15,000 goal. Funded! And still counting.

That kicks butt! So now, if you back the project, you're basically pre-ordering a copy (or copies) of the book. For more information, and to make pledge to The Princess Who Saved Herself, head over to Kickstarter.
