Music Video: Jane Lui's "Southern Winds" is a delightfully do-it-yourself handmade cardboard adventure

Further proof that Jane Lui is musical mad genius.

This is amazing. Our friend, the wonderfully talented singer/songwriter Jane Lui just released this delightfully brilliant music video for "Southern Winds", an original tune from album Goodnight Company. It's a gorgeous tune, but the video is unique in that it stars Jane's fingers, and was filmed entirely on a handmade cardboard set with multiple moving parts -- all in the one take. As I've said before, Jane Lui is a musical mad genius.

Take a look:

Beautiful. As you can see before and after the video, which was directed by Kari Lee Cartwright, there are a lot of moving parts, and it took many hands to put this production together. Jane says the project, which she has been working on for the better part of a year, was inspired by the latest Cirque du Soleil show.

"I've spent most of the year building sets in the corner and reworking the music after being inspired by the latest Cirque du Soleil show, Kurios, and the amazing cardboard works of Kiel Johnson," Jane says. "In the cheesiest way possible, this video means the world to me."

If you like the song, which is a different, reworked version than the original album track, "Southern Winds (Revisited)" is available on iTunes. (You should also check out Jane's 2010 album Goodnight Company.)
