Lea Salonga to guest star on 'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend'

CW's musical comedy is officially the Filipino-est show on television.

Whaaaaaat. Broadway star Lea Salonga will guest star in the season finale of the CW's Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. This is, hands down, the most perfect casting of a singing Filipino in the history of television.

Tony Award-Winner Lea Salonga to Sing in CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND Finale

The Tony Award-winning actress, who currently stars in Broadway's Allegiance, broke the news on Twitter that she'll be appearing in the acclaimed musical-themed comedy -- and singing too. (Of course she'll be singing.)

No word yet on who Ms. Salonga will be playing.

In Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, successful and driven career woman Rachel Bloom impulsively gives up everything in a desperate attempt to find love and happiness... in suburban West Covina, California.

In a surprise turn at Sunday night's 73rd Golden Globe Awards, series creator, writer and star Rachel Bloom took home the trophy for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy.

The series cast includes Vincent Rodriguez III as Josh Chan, the object of Rachel's affection (or obsession). Season one's Thanksgiving episode had Rachel spending the holiday with Josh and his extended clan (shout out to Tess Paras and Amy Hill) -- an occasion that may have marked TV's very first Filipino family.

Tess, who plays Josh's sister, confirmed last week that she's officially recurring as Jayma Chan:

Between the recurring Chan clan and news of Lea Salonga's appearance at season's end, we can confidently assert that Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is officially the Filipino-est show on American television.
