All right, X-fans. In case you missed it, here is the indisputable money shot from the new trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse, which premiered during the Super Bowl. Yes, that's Olivia Munn as Psylocke acrobatically slicing a flying automobile in half with her muthaeffin' psychic blade. Boom. That's all I needed to see. Sold.
Oh, here's the full Super Bowl spot:
Psylocke, aka Betsy Braddock, first appeared in 1976 in the pages of UK's Captain Britain #8, then was later re-introduced into the X-Men franchise in 1986. The character has gone through a lot of changes over the years, with powers including telepathy and telekinesis, as well as this whole thing where she was brainwashed and physically altered into a badass Asian assassin. Yeah, you know, comic books.
Clearly, the're keeping it going with the whole badass ninja direction.
Director by Bryan Singer, X-Men: Apocalypse finds Marvel's mutants facing their greatest nemesis: Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant. Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. Oh, hell no to that, say the X-Men. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven and Professor X must lead a team of young mutant heroes to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
X-Men: Apocalypse opens in theaters on May 27.
