Angry Reader of the Week: Ann Chung

"I sing, write, produce and teach. I cook a mean Beejee Chigae and Ackee & Saltfish."

Greetings, internet friends. It is time, once again, to meet the Angry Reader of the Week, spotlighting you, the very special readers of this website. Over the years, I've been able to connect with a lot of cool folks, and this is a way of showing some appreciation and attention to the people who help make this blog what it is. This week's Angry Reader is Ann Chung.

Who are you?

Ann Chung aka Ann One. A Los Angeles-born Korean-American woman, daughter, granddaughter, sister, wife, teacher, fighter and a lover.

What are you?

A musician. Producer. Writer. Artist. Teacher. Believer.

Where are you?

Los Angeles.

Where are you from?

Los Angeles. After serving in the U.S. Army and being stationed in New Jersey just two years after immigrating from Korea, my dad couldn't stand the East coast winters and headed west.

What do you do?

I sing, write, produce and teach. I cook a mean Beejee Chigae and Ackee & Saltfish.

What are you all about?

Breaking boundaries and stereotypes.

Spreading more love and light through the arts.

Substance over style.

One of the reasons I became a singer/songwriter/producer is because I never saw anyone who looked like me doing that when I was growing up. I felt the only way to make a difference is to be that which I wanted to see myself. It's my biggest hope that what I do helps our community and my Asian sisters in particular, even if it's just a little bit.

What makes you angry?

Ignorance. Drumpf. Micro Aggression. Asiaphiles. People who mistake my kindness for weakness (if they only knew how far I've come lol). Sexual and gender oppression. Elitists.
