Hey student journalists! Apply to VOICES 2017

All-expenses paid multimedia journalism training program for college and graduate students.

Hey student journalists! Here's a great opportunity. VOICES is an annual all-expenses paid multimedia journalism training fellowship for college and graduate students, sponsored by the Asian American Journalists Association. The program is a recruiting tool to increase diversity in newsrooms. The most promising students will be selected and given the opportunity to build skills and develop their published work.

Up to twenty applicants will be selected to cover the AAJA Convention this July in Philadelphia, with travel and hotel accommodations provided. Students will be paired with professional journalists as their mentors and be expected to produce and complete news assignments in advance of the convention in July.

The deadline to apply is Friday, March 31.

Students will produce a convention publication based on reporting completed before the convention and on-site in Philadelphia. Written stories, videos, podcasts and digital content will appear on the VOICES website. Students will also be expected to attend required recruiting events at the convention and have the opportunity to improve their portfolios and interviewing skills.

VOICES will be celebrating its 27th anniversary during the Philadelphia convention. The program represents hundreds of successful alumni that have advanced into newsrooms around the globe and outside the media industry. Former VOICES students have become Pulitzer Prize-winners, documentarians, public relations professionals, broadcast anchors and newsroom editors.

The 2017 VOICES program will take place July 24-29, 2017 at Loews Philadelphia Hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. All selected participants must be available for travel (from within the U.S.) during those dates.
