Angry Reader of the Week: Sujata Day

"My entire life is a series of decisions where I always chose art over money."

Hey, everybody! You know what's up. It is time again to meet the Angry Reader of the Week, spotlighting you, the very special readers of this website. Over the years, I've been able to connect with a lot of cool folks, and this is a way of showing some appreciation and attention to the people who help make this blog what it is. This week's Angry Reader is Sujata Day.

Who are you?

I'm Sujata. Suj to my homies. Sujata was one of the first disciples of Buddha. When he came out of a month-long mediation without eating or drinking, Sujata offered him a bowl of milk and rice and said "You don't have to starve to be enlightened." The origin of my name is HELLA cool.

What are you?

I'm an actress, writer, producer, director, singer, and dancer. Just your usual run-of-the-mill sextuple threat. I tried editing twice and it was a dismal failure. You win some, you lose some.

Where are you?

Drinking organic matcha tea in my rent-controlled apartment in Studio City. Valley pride for life!

Where are you from?

A Pennsylvania suburb an hour east of Pittsburgh called Greensburg. I went to Hempfield High School and was the sports anchor on our morning announcements show "Hempfield 15601" even though I was athletically-challenged. I bleed black and yellow.

What do you do?

I've been working the festival circuit this year with my short film, Cowboy and Indian. My biffle Will Collyer and I are in a band called Naked Hipster Project and we just dropped our second music video, "Parts." It's THIS close to going Platinum. I'm currently pitching/developing four different shows and a feature film, all with Indian-American female leads. I play Shady Sarah on HBO's Insecure created by and starring my bestie, Issa Rae. Our second season premieres Sunday July 23rd at 10:30pm so y'all better watch!

What are you all about?

Art over money. My entire life is a series of decisions where I always chose art over money. I have zero regrets and I'm happy AF.

What makes you angry?

Police officers shooting innocent black people and getting off scot-free, mass incarceration of minorities, old white male politicians making decisions about women's reproductive systems, folks who don't believe in science and global warming, the gender wage gap, ICE raids, mass shootings by white American terrorists, refugee restrictions... can you tell I'm a liberal feminist or nah?
