Angry Reader of the Week: Raymond C. Lai

"All around medium talent."

Hey, everybody! Thanks for checking in. It's time to meet the Angry Reader of the Week, spotlighting you, the very special readers of this website. Over the years, I've been able to connect with a lot of cool folks, and this is a way of showing some appreciation and attention to the people who help make this blog what it is. This week's Angry Reader is Raymond C. Lai.

Who are you?

I am Raymond C. Lai, father, filmmaker, amateur DJ/Producer. All around medium talent.

What are you?

Both of my parents were born in China, and both fled to Taiwan as kids. So Chinese-American.

Where are you?

In my home office in our new home in Silver Lake, CA, after several years in Long Beach.

Where are you from?

I was born in Morgantown, West Virginia, because my father, a true badass, got a job teaching at WVU. My parents moved us to Orange County when I was 10 (I still thank them for this decision every chance I get.) I've been in Southern California ever since.

What do you do?

I'm a writer/director currently in pre-production on my next short film project, Logan Lee & the Purple Optics, which is an Asian-American coming of age, sci-fi stoner comedy about magic weed and turntablism. Think Asian-American They Live meets Dazed and Confused. You know, four quadrant shit.

What are you all about?

I'm all about improving as a human, husband, father and filmmaker.

What makes you angry?

Let's see...

Ignorance. Hypocrisy. Lack of empathy. Toxic fandom. Toxic Avengers fandom. Non-Toxic Avenger fandom...

But in all seriousness, something that infuriates me is people who refuse to take responsibility for their decisions, actions, mistakes etc. How can we ever expect to grow as individuals if we can't confront our flaws?

Also cockroaches. Fuck cockroaches.
