Hey, everybody! It is time, once again, to meet the Angry Reader of the Week, spotlighting you, the very special readers of this website. Over the years, I've been able to connect with a lot of cool folks, and this is a way of showing some appreciation and attention to the people who help make this blog what it is. This week's Angry Reader is Chantal Thuy.
Who are you?
My name is Chantal Thuy, and I like quotes. I am large, I contain multitudes. (Walt Whitman) No, but really, don't get me started on this one, I am spending a lifetime still trying to figure it out.
What are you?
I'm an actress, a dedicated family member, a loyal friend, a karaoke singer, a human being, a seeker, a closeted maniac of all kinds of self-care things that quell my irreparable existential crisis and disquietude.
Where are you?
Currently between Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles and not enough in Montreal (#homeiswheretheheartis). And too much on my social media : Instagram: chantalthuy Twitter: Chantal_Thuy (you'll see)
Where are you from?
QUEBEC, ESTI! I'm a real Quebecer - French Canadian - Canadian - First generation Vietnamese because of incredible parents who left as boat people during the Vietnam War. Sometimes I forget I'm a Quebecer because I've been living in the States for so long. It was not a place where I learned #Vietpride, but thankfully that happened in San Francisco, where all the good shit starts. Now, I am just a proud melting pot of a mess.
What do you do?
Currently I am in Chicago to rehearse for a Tracy Lett's play called Linda Vista, which will premiere at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, in January 2019. (I'm stoked.) I'm also on a great TV show called Black Lightning, that airs on The CW/Netflix Worldwide on Tuesdays 9/8C. I play the DC Comics character Grace Choi, a bisexual, Asian American superhero in a canon comic book relationship with Thunder/Anissa. I'm so excited for what's in store with this role, so check it out!
What are you all about?
Being honest, living in integrity, kindness and having a sense of humor about the whole thing.
What makes you angry?
Injustices in the world directed towards people of color, women, children, LGBTQ community, the environment.
Greed and political corruption.
Lack of empathy or compassion towards your fellow humans.
Bad customer service reps on the phone.
Addiction, a disease which has taken the lives of loved ones or made others do unkind things.
And a lot of other shit that I am dealing with in therapy lol:)
