File Under Badass: 101-year-old marathon runner races for women's rights

I've written about marathon runner Fauja Singh before, back when he was younger... when he was 100 years old. Now at age 101, having competed in marathons around the world -- he started running when he was 89 -- he's retiring: Fauja Singh finally says full stop at 101.

Singh says he'll be hanging up his running shoes at the end of the month, after running his final marathon in Hong Kong -- but not before running a "mini marathon" to raise social awareness for the rights and security of women in India: Fauja Singh runs for women's rights and security.

100-year-old man finishes marathon. what's your excuse?

I am not a runner. I hate running. Hell, I hate walking briskly. But I know several folks who participated in marathons over the weekend. More power to you, my friends. You think you're special? Fauja Singh ran and completed a marathon in Toronto. And he's 100 years old: Who, What, Why: How can a 100-year-old run a marathon?

Badass. Singh finished the Toronto Waterfront Marathon in 8 hours, 25 minutes and 17 seconds, breaking the Guinness World Record as the oldest person to ever run a marathon. He came in 3,850th, but still finished ahead of five other competitors -- and I'm going to guess that none of those five runners are anywhere near a hundred:
