godfrey gao cast in the mortal instruments: city of bones

Model/actor Godfrey Gao, a rather handsome man I've mentioned here before, has been cast in the movie adaptation of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, a popular fantasy book series: 'Mortal Instruments' Adds Lena Headey, Jared Harris & Godfrey Gao.

City of Bones is the first in a series of six young adult fantasy books in which an ordinary teenager discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons.

Gao will play Magnus Bane. I'm not at all familiar with these books, but according to The Shadowhunters' Wiki, Mangus Bane is the "High Warlock of Brooklyn," which sounds totally awesome:
Magnus is said to be over eight hundred years old. He had been raised by the Silent Brothers of Madrid, Spain in the seventeenth century and received his name from them. Previously, he had lived on a farm where his mother hung herself after she realized what Magnus was. His 'father' then tried to drown him, but Magnus ended up burning his 'father' where he stood. He was born in the Dutch East Indies. His mother was half Indonesian and half Dutch (stated in the short story 'Magnus's Vow'), and her husband was Dutch.
Of course, some dumbass readers are unhappy with the fact that Magnus will be played by "an Asian dude," despite the fact that the character is indeed an Asian dude in the books. It seems that some folks didn't read very carefully.

Indeed, author Cassandra Clare says she specifically made sure that the actor they sought for Magnus was of Asian descent. In fact, on her blog, she calls Mr. Gao -- and I quote -- THE HOTTEST MAN IN THE WORLD. So suck it, you racist fans.
