Christopher Larkin cast in CW sci-fi drama pilot The 100

Actor Christopher Larkin, recently seen in YOMYOMF's comedy webseries Squad 85 -- and here, as a former Angry Reader of the Week -- has joined the cast of the CW sci-fi drama pilot The 100: CW's 'The 100' Adds Wise Guy to its Cast.

The show, based on an upcoming book series, is set in a post-apocalyptic future, nearly a century after nuclear war has ravaged the planet, and the human race has evacuated to spaceships orbiting above the atmosphere. A group of juvenile delinquents is sent back to Earth on a high-stakes mission to investigate the possibility of re-colonizing and returning to the planet.

The first book in the series doesn't hit shelves until September, and it's already got a TV series? Sounds like a pretty hot property. I'm intrigued. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Larkin, a relative newcomer, will play a wisecracking kid named Monty:

Set 97 years after a nuclear war has destroyed civilization, a spaceship housing the lone human survivors sends 100 juvenile delinquents back to Earth to investigate the possibility of re-colonizing the planet. The drama pilot is based on the forthcoming Little, Brown-published The 100 book series by Kass Morgan.

Larkin will play Monty, a sweet, funny and likable kid who is the furthest thing from a delinquent. He uses his smarts and sense of humor to help Clarke (Eliza Taylor) in her quest to survive and joins her, Finn, Jasper and Octavia on the trek to Mount Weather.
Sounds kind of like Monty could be the "Glenn" of this series. Because, hey, every post-apocalyptic saga needs a guy like that, right? On a funny note, I should add that it was actually Christopher's father, Pete Larkin, who tipped me off to this casting news -- how cool is that? That's a proud dad.
