angry reader of the week: sam hart

Hey! It's time for another Angry Reader of the Week, spotlighting you, the very special readers of this website. Over the years, I've been able to connect with a lot of cool folks, and this is a way of showing some appreciation and attention to the people who help make this blog what it is. This week's reader is musician Sam Hart.

Who are you?
Sam Hart. Best known as the guy who sang a song called "Mario Kart Love Song" on YouTube. Also known on YouTube as blinktwice4y.

What are you?
I'm Korean-American. I was born in South Korea and adopted by a nice white couple in America when I was two years old. That's why my last name is Hart, and not something more Asianny. I'm also Jewish.

Where are you?
I live in San Mateo, California with two cats and a lovely lady. Right now I'm in bed. One of my cats is snoring.

Where are you from?
I grew up in Jersey. I love fist pumps, Bon Jovi, and all of that. I'm pretty sure the pizza place I used to frequent was run by the mafia. My high school class had two Asians. We didn't talk to each other.

What do you do?
During the day I work as a video game designer. At night I write songs and play music. I record myself singing and put the videos up on YouTube. I spend a decent amount of time with my girlfriend learning dance moves from Lady Gaga music videos. Lately I obsess over my houseplants.

What are you all about?
I'm all about keeping music honest. I think songs are meant to make people feel something, and anybody can do that. I think that music makes lives better, and everybody should make time to learn an instrument or sing. I believe that some day we won't have to feel like our ethnicity is a hurdle to getting recognized in music. I think that every person who gets their music out there is doing important work, no matter how popular they are.

What makes you angry?
I hate that there are so many douches out there trying to take advantage of other people, particularly in the music industry. I hate that we seem to care more about celebrities' personal lives than the music they make.

Every once in a while somebody leaves a comment on one of my videos that goes something like "lol when i first saw u i thought u were gonna be terrible but ur actually good." I have to wonder if they're being racist or if I just look like a bad singer. Either way it grinds my gears.

I hate accidentally eating licorice jelly beans.
