west virginia senate candidate has a little trouble with names

John Raese, West Virginia GOP Senate candidate, has some trouble remembering names. Sometimes I do too. But forgetting the name of your own opponent? That's bad. This week, he called U.S. Senator Carte Goodwin, D-W.Va., whom Raese is seeking to replace, "Clarke Goodman" during an ABC News interview. Turns out, this isn't the first time this has happened: Raese Mangles Ethnic Names, Calls Justice Sotomayor 'Sarah Manorgan.'

Last month, he struggled over U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor's name.

"Was it Sarah Manor, Sarah Manorgan, Sarah Morgan?" he was quoted as saying by a monthly publication based in Shepherdstown.

In an appearance several weeks ago in St. Mary's, Raese called U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu by at least two different Asian-sounding last names.

Manorgan? Seriously? Where did that even come from? And how hard is it to remember "Chu"? I don't even want to know the two erroneous "Asian-sounding last names" he made up out of nowhere. Maybe he and good ol' Betty Brown should get together to discuss names that are easier to "deal with."

UPDATE: Here's a clip from The Rachel Maddow Show that includes footage of John Raese mispronouncing Steven Chu's name. At one point he actually refers to Dr. Chu as "chow mein": John Raese, politician or performer? The guy has made a comedy act out of it.
