justin lin on short list to direct the wolverine

What movie isn't Justin Lin attached to direct these days? According to Variety, hot off the crazy success of Fast Five, Justin is currently sitting on a short list of eight directors that 20th Century Fox is considering to helm the next Wolverine movie: Fox's 'Wolverine' helmer search down to 8.

The eight names are: Jose Padilha, Doug Liman, Antoine Fuqua, Mark Romanek, Justin Lin, Gavin O'Connor, James Mangold and Gary Shore. They're all apparently contenders to fill the seat recently vacated by Darren Aronofsky.

Meanwhile, Justin has promised that there will indeed be a sixth Fast and Furious movie. Considering the tasty little scene after the end credits of Fast Five, and the fact that the movie made a bajillion dollars and counting, I'd say that was pretty much guaranteed: 'Fast Five' Director Confirms Sequel: 'It's Going to Happen.'

Of course, Justin is also reportedly Universal's number one man to jumpstart the Terminator franchise reboot, with none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger attached to star. However, this seems unlikely to happen any time soon, as the former governor has some personal matters to sort out: Arnold Schwarzenegger Postpones His Return to Acting; CRY MACHO and TERMINATOR On Hold Indefinitely.

On the other hand, according to Justin, the Highlander remake he's attached to direct is in much better shape, and is still very much a priority: 'Highlander' Is Still Very Much On 'Fast Five' Director Justin Lin's Radar.

And that concludes the what-is-Justin-Lin-directing-now? segment of our program. Nearly ten years after Better Luck Tomorrow, who would have associated not one but four different major franchises to his name? As a fan and as a friend, I really love seeing where his career continues to take him.
