With appearances by just about anybody and everybody they could get in front of a camera.
Epic. That's really the only way to describe this. You must watch the music video for "I Got My" by Magnetic North and Taiyo Na featuring Jin, with appearances by just about anybody and everybody they could get in front of a camera -- entertainers, activists, teachers, students, actors, designers, dancers, writers, poets, bloggers, community organizers. It's pretty damn awesome. Check it out:
That's right. You just saw Yuri Kochiyama spittin' rhymes. It's worth multiple viewings. The video is a true celebration of art, activism and community, and I can't think of a better tune to really set off APA Heritage Month. I'm in there somewhere too, and I'm truly humbled and honored that I was able to participate.
Huge props Derek Kan for directing and editing the damn thing -- this project was like three years in the making. But now I know why it took so long! For more information Magnetic North and Taiyo Na, go to their website here. And be sure to check out their album Home:Word on Bandcamp.
