angry reader of the week: hari kondabolu

My people, it's time. Time to meet the Angry Reader of the Week, spotlighting you, the very special readers of this website. Over the years, I've been able to connect with a lot of cool folks, and this is a way of showing some appreciation and attention to the people who help make this blog what it is. This week's Angry Reader is comedian/writer Hari Kondabolu.

Who are you?
Hari Kondabolu. My Starbucks name is usually Harry or Henry...not by choice.

What are you?
A human. And depending on your politics: An American. A South Asian American. An Indian American. A South Indian American. A Telugu American.

Where are you?
Currently in my apartment in Brooklyn, NY. However, if you ask my friends and family, they would tell you I'm generally in my head.

Where are you from?
Born and raised in Queens, NY. (Also, here's a joke about the complexity of that question.)

What do you do?

I'm a standup comedian who gets to tell jokes on television sometimes. I'm also currently a writer for the FX television series Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell. I spend most of my time reading and thinking about why the world is so fucked up. I then try to find funny things to say about this, so hopefully it feels a little less fucked up. Also, I drink coffee.

What are you all about?
Baseball. Seattle. Moscato. Comedy. My brother, Ashok. My Mom. My Dad. My Friends. Kurt Vonnegut. Stewart Lee. The Pixies. The mascot that's named after me at my alma mater Townsend Harris High School (It's called "Hari the Hawk"), Weezer until 2001. Modest Mouse until 2004. Autumn. The under-appreciated John Hughes film Some Kind of Wonderful. Did I mention the mascot that's named after me? Clif Bars. Naked Juice. Hinduism. Thinking about my recent weight gain. Thinking about chocolate. The F Train. The 7 Train. Seriously, A MASCOT...

What makes you angry?
Racism. Sexism. Homophobia. Poverty. Unfairness. Privilege. The Mets.
