Netflix series wins Best Limited Series and lead acting categories for Steven Yeun and Ali Wong.

The Netflix road rage drama Beef cleaned up with historic big wins at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night, taking home trophies for Best Limited Series, and Best Actor and Actress for Steven Yeun and Ali Wong.

Ali Wong is the first actress of Asian descent ever to win in Best Actress in a Mini-series or Motion Picture for TV. Steven Yeun is only the third actor to win in the category. And Wong and Yeun are only the third duo in Golden Globes history to win both lead limited series acting categories.

Beef won the award for Best Limited Series, Anthology Series or Television Motion Picture -- the first-ever honor for a show created by and starring Asian Americans. Accepting the award, series creator Lee Sung Jin thanked the nameless driver involved in the road rage incident that inspired the show.

Emma Stone yells "I'm sorry!" for whitewashing in 'Aloha'

Sandra Oh calls out racist casting during Golden Globes monologue.

Sandra Oh went there. On Sunday night, during the award show's opening monologue, the Golden Globes co-host made a joke Sunday night about how Crazy Rich Asians was "the first studio film with an Asian American lead since Ghost in the Shell and Aloha. Heyoooooooo. Whitewashing joke!

Hey, everybody's watching. We had a huge year in Hollywood representation, and one of the people overseeing tonight's festivities is Asian. Whitewashing jokes are more than fair game. Aloha and Ghost in the Shell are easy targets. What we didn't expect: hearing Emma Stone yelling from the audience, "I'm sorry!"

Darren Criss wins Golden Globe for 'American Crime Story'

"Son of a firecracker Filipino woman from Cebu" is the first Filipino American to win a Golden Globe.

In another historic moment at the 76th Golden Globe Awards, Darren Criss took home the trophy for Best Actor in a Limited Series or TV Movie for his chilling portrayal of spree killer Andrew Cunanan in the FX anthology series American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace.

Criss, whose mother is from the Philippines, is the first Filipino American actor to win a Golden Globe. In a heartfelt acceptance speech, he acknowledged his heritage and dedicated the honor to his mother.

"As we’ve seen, this has been a marvelous year for representation in Hollywood, and I am so enormously proud to be a teeny, tiny part of that as the son of a firecracker Filipino woman from Cebu that dreamed of coming to this country and getting to be invited to cool parties like this," Criss said. "Mom, I know you're watching this. You are hugely responsible for most of the good things in my life. I love you dearly. I dedicate this to you."

Sandra Oh won the entire Golden Globes

May you all win awards and take the opportunity to thank your parents in their mother tongue.

"Sandra Oh made history at last night's Golden Globes ceremony. Well, she made a lot of history. First, as a host: She is the first person of color to ever host the Golden Globes in its 76 year history, and the first Asian to host any major award show. And secondly, as a winner: By earning Best Actress in a Television Series Drama for Killing Eve, Sandra Oh became the first Asian performer to win multiple Golden Globes."

But perhaps most importantly, for so many of us, Sandra Oh's historic night made us feel seen. Like everybody else, I blinked away tears when her name was announced, as she walked out from backstage to accept the award, then took her moment to say "I love you" -- in Korean -- to her parents sitting in the back of the ballroom. And then bowed. May you all win awards and take the opportunity to thank your parents in their mother tongue.

Hey! Look at all these Asians nominated for Golden Globes

Crazy Rich Asians, Killing Eve and American Crime Story score multiple nominations.

At this year's Emmy Awards, Sandra Oh declared "It's an honor just to be Asian." True that, but hey, winning some actual awards ain't too shabby either. Nominations for the 76th annual Golden Globe Awards were announced on Thursday morning, and this time, it looks like some Asian folks are invited to the party.

This summer's runaway rom-com hit Crazy Rich Asians scored two nominations, including Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, and Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy for Constance Wu.

Wu's nomination marks the first time in nearly half a century that an Asian woman has earned a Best Actress nod in either of the Golden Globe film categories. Previous lead actress contenders include Machiko Kyō for The Teahouse of the August Moon (1956), Nancy Kwan for The World of Suzie Wong (1960), Miyoshi Umeki for Flower Drum Song (1961) and Yvonne Elliman for Jesus Christ Superstar (1973).

The Huangs have not watched the Golden Globes since 1996. Here's why.

Make it right, Hollywood Foreign Press Association. #makeitrightFOTB

The year: 1996. Ang Lee's exquisite, critically-acclaimed adaptation of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility is an awards season darling, nominated for six Golden Globes -- including Best Director. But when the envelope was opened, the Best Director trophy was presented to Mel Gibson for Braveheart. Noooo! Ang wuz robbed.

Ang Lee walked away empty-handed. And nobody was more disappointed than the Huang family. In this special video message from Fresh Off The Boat to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, we see the Huangs eagerly gathered around the TV on that fateful night, clad in their matching Team Ang t-shirts.

"A Taiwanese man directing a movie about white women in old England," gushes Jessica. "See, boys? Anything is possible if you study hard and become a lawyer."

There was so much hope. But we all know what happened that night. Here's how it went down:

Margaret Cho mocks North Korea at the Golden Globes

Well, that was rather uncomfortable.

So... did you catch the Golden Globe Awards? Hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's annual bash was the usual mostly white, self-congratulatory celebrity affair... punctuated by a rather uncomfortable recurring bit involving Margaret Cho as a North Korean official.

Golden Globes: Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Margaret Cho Joke About Sony Hack

There were going to be jokes about North Korea. The controversy around The Interview and the fallout from the Sony hacking scandal were the biggest Hollywood stories of the year. They couldn't not joke about it. Among other jabs, the hosts joked that they were gathered to honor "all of the movies that North Korea was okay with."

They also took a moment to introduce North Korean journalist Cho Yun Ja -- played by a solemn, over-powdered Margaret Cho -- contributor for Movies Wow! magazine, and the newest member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, who took her moment get a photo with the venerable Meryl Streep.
