2019 Stay Angry Subscriber Drive

Hey, everybody! Thank you in advance for reading this.

I'm Phil Yu, founder and editor of Angry Asian Man. As of this month, I have been running this website for 18 years. It's been a wild, surprising journey full of triumphs and setbacks, but ultimately, I just feel honored and privileged that I somehow get to do this for a living. It's not easy, but it's a calling. I run this blog almost entirely by myself, doing the best I can with the help of an intrepid Angry Asian Intern and love from my extended Angry community. And, of course, the generous support of readers like you.

So... here we are again, where I ask for your help. It's the 2019 Stay Angry Subscriber Drive!

Each month, I spend hundreds of hours putting in the research, writing and administration behind running Angry Asian Man, as well as recording, producing and editing They Call Us Bruce, the podcast I co-host with Jeff Yang. I love it, but it does come with a significant set of costs to sustain -- in time, money and energy. In addition, there are those pesky everyday issues of paying rent, gas, groceries, insurance, etc. Grown-up stuff.

Would you consider joining with me to help keep Angry Asian Man going? If you're a regular reader, if this blog is a daily destination for you, and/or if you've found this content valuable, would you consider pitching in with a contribution? Your generous support will help pay the bills, keep the work going, but most importantly, affirm through your partnership that this work is important and worthwhile.

The Shirt

In appreciation for your support, you'll receive this year's special Subscriber Drive "Stay Angry" t-shirt featuring an exclusive design by artist and graphic novelist Jeremy Arambulo (A Challenge).

Each limited edition shirt is a Bella+Canvas black tri-blend unisex short sleeve tee, made from polyester combed and ringspun cotton/rayon. It's super-soft and looks pretty darn awesome. Wear it to go kick some ass.

This shirt is not for sale, not available anywhere else, and will only be given out as a thank you gift to supporters who subscribe at the sustaining $5/month level and above, or give a one-time contribution of $50 or more, exclusively during this year's Stay Angry Subscriber Drive. If you've given in the past, or if you're a current subscriber at a lower level, this is a great opportunity to level up and increase your giving.

(If you're already a current ongoing subscriber, you'll receive a shirt. You should've received an email about it.)

Monthly Subscription

It would be especially helpful if you became an ongoing Angry Asian Subscriber. Sign up through this PayPal link to make a recurring monthly automatic contribution of $5 or more. You can cancel it anytime.

One-Time Contribution

Or you can make a single contribution as a one-time patron. $50 or more gets you the shirt. (Hit the "DONATE" button, which will take you to PayPal, and designate the amount you'd like to contribute under "Price per item"):

Of course, if you don't want the shirt and just want to support the site, you are more than welcome to sign up at a monthly level lower than $5, or make a one-time contribution of less than $50. Every little bit helps. You can use the regular year-round donation link. (FYI: PayPal takes a small fee, on my end, out of every transaction.)

Or you don't have to give at all and continue reading the blog as usual. That's cool too. There's no paywall.

We'll be printing up and sending out the shirts as soon as possible, but most will likely go out after the end of the Subscriber Drive, so please allow at least a few weeks for fulfillment. Your patience is appreciated.

Thank you for your support! Stay Angry.

NOTE: In the interest of full disclosure, Angry Asian Man is not a nonprofit or charitable organization, and as such your donations are not tax-deductible. By extension, in order to collect contributions through PayPal, your donations are technically classified as "payments." Just throwing that clarification out there. Thanks.
