Bush told the nation on Wednesday that he was ordering a rapid increase of American forces in Iraq, with the explicit acknowledgment that not enough troops had been sent to Iraq to establish control in the first place—something General Shinseki publicly told Congress back in 2003. Not only did they refuse to listen, but he was criticized and rebuked by the administration. Vindicated!
