impaact 2007 conference

For you students in the area, check out the IMPAACT 2007 conference next week, Saturday, November 10 at the University of Connecticut. This year's theme is "Hate is Real, Realize Hate, Speak Out Against Hate Crimes," which obviously focuses on the important issue of hate crimes against minority communities. There will be workshops, speakers, performers and cool people to meet, so you want to be there. The conference's keynote speaker is Ismael Ileto, brother of hate crime victim Joseph Ileto. There will also be performances by Giles Li and GNC, an exhibit by photographer Corky Lee, and a screening of Theresa Thanjan's Whose Children Are These? Sounds like it's going to be a really great day of education, community and action. For more information on the conference, go here.
