not the same

I found this piece in Newsweek pretty interesting, particularly because I can kind of relate with the author's experiences: I'm Not Who You Think I Am. How many Asians out there have had to deal with ignorant folks mistaking them for other Asians? Yes, it's the old all-Asians-look-alike joke, in real life.

I swear, the exact same thing that she writes about in the first paragraph happened to me, in my apartment building. A fellow tenant I ran into in the parking garage welcomed me to the building... though I had been living there for a couple of years now. Oh, you must mean that other Asian guy who moved in last week. I guess including more than one Asian person into the situation confuses folks.
