family denied visas to attend funeral

This is a really sad story out of North Carolina... Last week, Joel Valente lost his wife, Romina, after she gave birth to their second child. Now he says the U.S. is denying her family, who live in the Philippines, an emergency visa to attend the funeral: Family denied visas to attend funeral.

According to Valente, Romina's siblings were denied visas because "they couldn't get her name on the internet and they were looking at the death certificate and they were doubtful." The implication is that they've fabricated those documents, and are lying about her death in order to procure visas. How about a little sensitivity? How about allowing her family some closure? The situation is tragic as it is. No need to make it worse.
