shanghai restoration project on npr's day to day

NPR's Day to Day has a great story on musician Dave Liang, the guy behind Shanghai Restoration Project, whose sound blends traditional Chinese instruments with hip hop and electronica: Shanghai Restoration Project: Hybrid Backbeats. It's a great piece that examines some of the ideas and impressions that went into the music, in Dave's own words.

I finally got a chance to meet Dave in person the other night, and heard him play a few songs live. Very cool stuff. The Shanghai Restoration Project has released several albums of original music, as well as a record of remixed 1930 jazz from Shanghai. If you haven't heard any of music, I highly recommend checking it out. To learn more, visit the website here.
