The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, sequel to 2006's girl-bonding movie classic, opens in theaters this week. Having never seen the first Pants, I imagine if I go to see this one, I'd be totally lost. No, none of the said Sisters are Asian American. However, I do know for a fact that Leonardo Nam reprises his role as Amber Tamblyn's gamer friend-turned-boyfriend Brian McBrian. Judging from the trailers, it looks like they get intimate.
Also in theaters, the stoner action/comedy Pineapple Express. I heard a while back that comedian Ken Jeong, aka Dr. Ken (the tempermental gynecologist from Knocked Up), has a role in the movie as the member of an Asian crime syndicate. According to one review, his performance is described as "wonderfully deadpan." I do not know what that means, but I think it's good. I'm told that Ken's also got a brief cameo in the Will Ferrell/John C. Reilly comedy Step Brothers. Look at you, Dr. Ken! Hangin' with the Apatow crowd.
