a night to remember

My fellow Americans, we did it. We wake up in an America that is fundamentally changed. We voted, and watched history unfold: Obama sweeps to victory as first black president.

President Barack Obama. Damn right. I don't know about you, but I believe this brings us one step closer to one day also seeing—as crazy and distant as it may seem—the first Asian American president. It will happen.

I told myself that either way, I'd get drunk on election night, whatever the outcome. Celebrating... or drowning my sorrow. Needless to say, it was a long night (in a good way). I'm still recovering. But yes, I am truly hopeful.

UPDATE: By the way, since a lot of folks have been wondering... According to New York Times exit polls, 62% of the Asian American vote went to Barack Obama. And man, I am relieved that I don't have to move to Hong Kong.
