bugs bunny nips the nips (1944)

Hey! Just for fun, how about some classic cartoon racism? Take a look at this old school 1944 Warner Brothers cartoon, Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips, in which everybody's favorite wascally wabbit shows those pesky Japs what's up. Doc. The blatant, outrageous racism is kind of stunning, but there you go.

Kind of difficult to watch, isn't it?

But wait, it's just a cartoon, right? No. This cartoon, and others like it -- yes, there are more where this came from -- originate from that same place of prejudice and wartime hysteria that made it easy to force Japanese Americans in internment camps, justified with a simple "Never forget!" Indeed. (Thanks, Ricky.)
