jim yong kim inaugurated as dartmouth president

Yesterday, Dartmouth College formally inaugurated Jim Yong Kim as the school's 17th president. In his inaugural address at a formal ceremony on the Dartmouth Green, President Kim challenged students to "aspire to change the world": Dartmouth College Inaugurates Dr. Jim Yong Kim as 17th President.

Kim, a former director of the World Health Organization's HIV/AIDS department, took over the Dartmouth presidency from James Wright in July. Born in Seoul, Korea and raised in Muscatine, Iowa, Dr. Kim is the first Asian-American to be appointed president of an Ivy League school.

The Dartmouth has extensive coverage of Dr. Kim's inauguration, including video footage of his address, here. One of his first orders of business, among other matters, will be a focus on improving the public perception of the College's Greek system: Kim to focus on Greek system's public image.
