This is the new U.S. theatrical poster for John Woo's long-awaited historical epic Red Cliff, which will be releasing on video-on-demand, Xbox Live and Amazon on October 22, and in select theaters on November 20.
The movie, starring Tony Leung, Takeshi Kaneshiro, and a lot of guys on horses, recounts China's 208 A.D. Battle of Red Cliffs and the subsequent fall of the Han Dynasty. It was both the highest-grossing and most expensive production in Chinese history. Is it worth the hype? We'll find out next month.
And for those of you lucky folks in San Diego, you can catch the West Coast premiere of Red Cliff on October 18 at the San Diego Asian Film Festival.
