to fob with love

Jeff Yang's latest "Asian Pop" column for SFGate celebrates the malapropisms and cultural disconnects that make our Asian immigrant parents so special, talking to Teresa Wu and Serena Wu, the pair of friends behind the brilliant sites mymomisafob.com and mydadisafob.com. Check it out: An accent on love.

I raved about my mom is a fob when it launched about a year back. The site is an homage to the offbeat sayings and doings of Asian immigrant parents everywhere, first inspired by Teresa's own mother. Admit it -- you know exactly what they're talking about. And you think it's pretty damn funny.

What I like most about the site is that, yes, it's having a little bit of fun at our Asian parents' expense, but it has nothing to with being mean or cruel -- it's all done with affection and a knowing bond with other users over shared parental experiences.
