suspect arrested in elementary school teacher murder

Ack. Not another one of these... This week, police arrested 32-year-old Eric Lau, who is suspected of murdering Jami Erlich, a popular elementary school gym teacher in Rockland County, New York: Suspect Eric Lau arrested in slaying of Jami Erlich, popular Rockland County gym teacher.

Lau, who disappeared after Erlich was killed on Sunday, was tracked down by police dog, captured in a wooded area Tuesday night, and charged with second-degreemurder. He pleaded not guilty and was ordered held without bail.

Erlich, a recently divorced elementary school teacher, was found beaten and stabbed to death inside her condo next door to Lau's in Valley Cottage.

When Lau, an employee of Pfizer drug company, failed to show up to work at his office Monday, police began a search for his whereabouts in connection with the murder. More here: Eric Lau charged with killing Rockland County teacher.
