far east movement signs with cherrytree records

Congratulations to the Far East Movement! On Friday afternoon, I received an email from my man Kev Nish breaking the big news that FM has officially signed a record deal with Cherrytree/Interscope Records. This is huge, considering the label represents the likes of Sting, Lady Gaga and Feist.

It's also pretty awesome when you realize how much FM has been able to achieve up to now as an unsigned group. It not only takes talent, which the guys possess, but ingenuity, hard work and a whole lotta hustle. I've been saying this for years -- Far East Movement is one of the hardest working groups in hip hop. And they deserve every ounce of success they've been able to grab.

What's extra cool about this development is that back in the day, Kev and Prohgress used to intern at Interscope Records, in an effort to learn about the music industry. Kev apparently only enrolled in community college so that Interscope would take him as an intern! Now they're actual artists on the label. Things have truly come full circle. How cool is that?

So what's next? This is a new beginning for FM. They're reportedly hard at work at their first album with Cherrytree. Who knows? Heck, maybe you'll see them touring alongside, say, Lady Gaga in the near future. FM's got the news about signing with Cherrytree on their website here: FAR EAST MOVEMENT SIGN TO CHERRYTREE/ INTERSCOPE RECORDS.
