third asian victim in muni swarming attacks

Last week in San Francisco, police charged a 15-year-old boy in the March 22 attack of a 57-year-old Asian woman on a Muni platform: SAN FRANCISCO POLICE ARREST SUSPECT IN MARCH 22 ASSAULT ON VICTIM STANDING ON MUNI PLATFORM.

Authorities believe he may be part of a larger group of teens swarming and beating riders on the T-Third line. There have been three such attacks since January. All of the victims have been Asian. Hey, SFPD, make the connection.

The latest attack happened on Saturday evening at Third Street and Williams Avenue. The victim, a 29-year-old man, was riding home on the T-Third line when a group of five teenagers started to punch him. No mugging, just beating: 3rd attack on T-Third line prompts more patrols.

On January 24, a group of black teenagers attacked and severely beat 83-year-old Huang Chen, sending him to the hospital. He died on March 19. The medical examiner's office has yet determine if his beating led to his death -- which would make this a homicide case: Murder Charge Possible In Death of Elderly Beating Victim Huan Chen.

According to police, there's no evidence at this point that the attacks were racially motivated. You've got to be kidding me. So what's the magic number? Four? Let's say five. When five Asians are attacked -- maybe killed -- on the T-Third, these attacks will officially become racially-motivated. Cool?

Authorities say patrol officers will be "stepping up" enforcement efforts in the area. More here: S.F. police investigating multiple attacks along Third Street Muni route.
