see you at tuesday night cafe

This week, I had the pleasure of being the designated "Guest Blogger" at Tuesday Night Cafe, a multi-disciplinary performance space for the API and local Los Angeles arts community, happening every first and third Tuesday in Little Tokyo, spring through fall.

I don't actually understand what "guest blogger" really means, or what my duties were for the evening. But I saw and experienced some very cool, genuine artists doing their thing. So I'm sharing about it. Here are some photos:

It's really all about community. What's most evident when you attend Tuesday Night Cafe is how focused and dedicated everyone is, from the organizers to the audience, about creating a supportive, safe space for artists -- particularly for performers who are just starting out. I had a great time.

You want to see what's up? Come out to Tuesday Night Cafe, every first and third Tuesday in the Aratani Courtyard at the Union Center for the Arts. For more information, go to the Tuesday Night Project website here.

Oh, and be sure to mark your calendars for The TNParty annual benefit for the Tuesday Night Project. It's happening July 31 in the JACCC Plaza. Save the date, and buy your tickets here.
