on dvd: how to make love to a woman

There are a handful of noteworthy independent films that have recently been released on DVD. I've got a bunch sitting in a stack next to my TV, but I just haven't had time to watch any of them yet. However, I figured you might want to know about them...

Like How to Make Love to a Woman, "a comedy of miscommunication between the sheets." Okay, I had no awareness of this movie until producer Sheri Bryant shot me an email a few weeks back. Like I said, I haven't seen it, but it does have a handful of Asian American names attached to it. Here's the trailer:

Written by Dennis Kao, it's about one man's journey to save a relationship by attempting to improve his sex skills instead of communicating what he really feels. Here the back-of-the-box synopsis:
When Andy hears his girlfriend Lauren sigh after sex, he panics. But even with the help of his friends, porn stars and tantric experts, he continues to stumble in the bedroom, finally realizing that in order to give Lauren the "O" word, he first needs to say the "L" word.
I know -- it looks and sounds like a movie about a bunch of white people talking about sex. And a lot of it probably is. But the cast does include Ken Jeong, James Kyson Lee and James Hong -- all likeable performers who are good at what they do.

Anyway, the movie is now available on DVD and Netflix streaming. For more information about How to Make Love to a Woman, go to the movie's website here and the YouTube channel here. And for all you random Google stumblers, no, it's not an instructional video.
