2011 apiasf higher education summit, june 27-28


Heads up. The Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund (APIASF), the nation's largest nonprofit organization that provides scholarships to APIA students with financial need, invites to its second annual higher education summit, 2011 APIASF College Completion Forum: Strengthening Institutions that Serve Asian American and Pacific Islander Americans. It's happening June 27-28 at Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C. Here are some more details about the Summit:

As a part of the APIASF Higher Education Summit series, the Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund (APIASF) will host the APIASF College Completion Forum: Strengthening Institutions that Serve Asian American and Pacific Islander Americans on June 27, 2011 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C. This forum will bring together a multi-cultural group of stakeholders including educators, students, researchers, government representatives, corporate leaders and community members, to discuss the national college completion agenda and its impact on the Asian and Pacific Islander American (APIA) community.

Highlights of the event will include:

- An overview of the national college completion agenda;
- A presentation on the role that minority-serving institutions play in contributing to increased college completion;
- A panel on APIA student experiences; and
- New research by the National Commission on Asian American and Pacific Islander Research in Education (CARE).

The day will conclude with a special reception co-hosted by APIASF, the Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA) and the Southeast Asia Resource Action Center (SEARAC) will recognize the work of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
