internship opportunity: oca-gla fall 2011 special events

Hey students! OCA-Greater Los Angeles is currently looking for qualified individuals to apply for the 2011 Fall Special Events Internship, a ten-week opportunity to help plan special events related to civil rights issues including voting rights, hate crimes, political empowerment, education and leadership development.

The internship is unpaid, but school credit is available, and it's a great opportunity to get experience working on advocacy issues critical to the Asian Pacific American community. Here are some more details about the internship:
OCA – Greater Los Angeles Chapter (OCA-GLA) is seeking an energetic and resourceful candidate to serve as an intern to plan special events related to civil rights issues including voting rights, hate crimes, political empowerment, education and leadership development. In addition to gaining valuable experience in organizing and educating the Asian Pacific Islander community, the intern would also work closely with the OCA-GLA Board and OCA National Staff to organize collaborative events and activities. OCA-GLA activities include, but are not limited to, organizing the annual dinner, youth and community service days, political educational forums, voter education events, citizenship workshops, and social activities. The intern should expect to assist with related administrative work.

This is a position for school credit only, with reimbursed parking/transportation. Start and finish dates are flexible.
