The film, SAIGON ELECTRIC, is a timeless tale of a friendship between two young women: Mai, a ribbon dancer from the countryside, and Kim, a street smart hip hop dancer from the Saigon Fresh crew. Utilizing urban culture in Vietnam, Gauger intertwines the relationship between the two girls with Hip Hop as a middle ground, while capturing the budding street culture in modern Vietnamese youth.
It's a really fun movie that gives you glimpse of modern-day Saigon we haven't really had a chance to see on film. To purchase tickets for Tuesday night's showcase, go here. And if you can't make it, you can catch Saigon Electric during its 10-city theatrical run starting October 7. For more information about the movie, go to the Saigon Electric website here.
