Over the weekend in Sacramento, police arrested the prime suspect in a violent one-man crime spree in San Jose that included robbery, shooting, murder and carjacking -- claiming the life of a popular radio talk show host: San Jose crime-spree suspect caught.

33-year-old Paul Ray Castillo is accused of shooting a 42-year-old man during a robbery at a gas station, then carjacking and murdering Cindy Nguyen, a real estate agent and Vietnamese American radio personality. Her body was found in a garage in San Jose:
The series of crimes began about 11 a.m. Friday when Castillo tried to rob a 42-year-old San Jose man pumping gas at the Chevron station at Lincoln and Curtner avenues in San Jose's Willow Glen neighborhood and shot him, police said. The victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.

The assailant then fled in a Nissan to the Plant shopping center at Monterey Road and Curtner, about a mile away. There, police believe Castillo came across Nguyen, who apparently was experiencing some trouble with her white Lexus.

Nguyen had called her boss, Nick Pham, "asking for one of us to help come out and give her a jump because her battery died," Pham told reporters. "Five minutes later, she called back and said a Hispanic person is offering to help her. And that's the last we heard of her."
Castillo is charged with murder, kidnapping in the commission of a carjacking, attempted robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and causing bodily injury on a peace officer or firefighter, robbery with use of a firearm, burglary, and assault with a deadly weapon. More here: here.
