pioneers from the east: first chinese families in austin

This is pretty fascinating. The Austin History Center recently posted an online version of Pioneers from the East, a groundbreaking photo exhibit of the city's first Chinese families, whose presence dates back to the 1870s.

Did you know, according to the city's Census, there were twenty Chinese living in Austin in 1875? The exhibit is a really interesting glimpse into the lives of the area's early Asian Americans. To see the photos, go to the Austin History Center's website here. (Thanks, Eugenia.)
