robert refsnyder named college world series mvp

On Monday, the Arizona Wildcats defeated South Carolina for a sweep of the College World Series, winning its first national championship in twenty-six years: Arizona wins first College World Series title since 1986.

This was in big part thanks to the efforts of junior right fielder Robert Refsnyder, who was named Most Outstanding Player of the tournament, hitting .476 with two home runs and five RBIs during the series.

Outstanding, indeed. Refsnyder, who happens to be Korean American, was drafted in the fifth round by the New York Yankees earlier this year. More here: Arizona's Refsnyder Named CWS Most Outstanding Player.

UPDATE: Robert Refsnyder apparently encountered some racism while playing in South Carolina: Rob Refsnyder Tweets: 'SC Doesn't Accept Asians Playing Baseball.' But rather than lump the entire state of South Carolina into a racist pile, he found it in his heart to forgive: Arizona's Robert Refsnyder decides S.C. isn't totally racist afterall.
