apply to the yuri kochiyama leadership program

This sounds like a great opportunity for young people in the metro-Detroit area...

The Yuri Kochiyama Leadership Program at the University of Michigan is an outreach program to Asian Pacific Islander American high school students. The sessions, which meet Saturdays and begin in October, focuses on Asian American heritage, identity and awareness.

Here are some more details about the program:

What is the Yuri Kochiyama Leadership Program?

The Yuri Kochiyama (YK) Program is an outreach program geared towards Asian Pacific Islander American high school students in the metro-Detroit area. Our focus is on Asian American heritage, identity and awareness. College mentors lead the program’s yearlong set of weekly sessions held right on the UM campus. Mentor applications go out to UM students in the Spring and YK participants are selected by application as well.

Students graduate from the YK Program with a certificate awarding their accomplishment. Beyond that, YK provides the opportunity to gain valuable leadership skills, to learn about one’s identity and background and to grow with a fun group of friends from the local area.

If you're interested in participating, or maybe know someone who is, the application deadline is October 12. For further information and application instructions, go to the Yuri Kochiyama Leadership Program website.
