What the hell? This was shared on Facebook and passed along by several readers... This letter, purporting initially to be from the "California Department of Consumer Affairs Board of Barbering & Cosmetology," was apparently mailed to Derek Valencia, who lives in American Canyon, California.
It starts off with a bunch official-sounding legal speak about a revoked cosmetology license, but if you read on, it quickly devolves into some real racist bullshit directed at the "filthy" Filipino community, signed by "Concerned American Canyon Neighbors." Here's the full text of the letter, transcribed:
California Department of Consumer AffairsObviously, this is bullshit. Who the hell goes out of their way to compose hateful trash like this? Typos and all. What is the point? I don't exactly know who received this letter, but it's obviously intended to hurt and intimidate. Is this not a hate crime? That's racist!

Ms. Brandes, be advised that you are potentially in breach of current State of California rules/regulations and subject to fines.
In addition, the American Canyon Filipino community as filthy as it is. [Illegible] unwanted as it is...... doesn't need to bring additional unwarranted/unlicensed practices which assists in bringing down the already downward spiraling property values in our area.
We are attempting to have our community a law abiding one, without having yet another gang of Filipino scum such as yourself and married daughters who have attempted to assimilate into this once clean non-Filipino dominated area in American Canyon (Napa Junction) which includes those of your female offspring who have aligned themselves with CAUCASION husbands to assist in ensuring their half-breed children have "straight noses" in order to be accepted in non-Filipino society.

If anyone can provide more information about this letter, or is aware of any further action, please let me know.
UPDATE: Derek, who received the letter and shared it on Facebook, went to the police department to report it. He's apparently not the only person who received the letter. It's like mass snail mail racist hate spam or something. Who does that?
If you live in the American Canyon area, and also received a mailing like this, I encourage you to report to it authorities to give it the attention it deserves, and pressure police to get to the bottom of it.
