Tripathi was last seen at his apartment in Providence on March 16.
Although nothing is certain until the medical examiner's office performs and autopsy and identifies the body, according to authorities, it's "very possible" that the body could be Tripathi's. The body was discovered floating in the water by the coach of Brown's rowing team:
Providence police Lieutenant Joseph Donnelly said Tuesday night that “it’s very, very possible” that the body could be Tripathi’s, but also said authorities will not know for sure until the medical examiner’s office in Providence identifies the body Wednesday morning. Donnelly said Tripathi’s family has not been notified of the body’s recovery.More here: Body pulled from water may be missing Brown Univ. student Sunil Tripathi.
Donnelly said the body was found in the river behind the Wyndham Garden Providence Hotel at around 6 p.m. The coach of Brown’s rowing team, which practices in that area, saw the body floating in the water and called police, Donnelly said.
Last week, Tripathi was the subject of significant false speculation on social media, by online commenters who erroneously connected him to the Boston Marathon bombings. After the all the pain his family has gone through, another hell. And now, more tragedy, it seems. Hoping for strength and closure for Tripathi family.
