Pinkberry co-founder sentenced to 7 years in prison

Young Lee chased down and beat homeless man with a tire iron

Damn. Remember this case? The co-founder of popular frozen yogurt chain Pinkberry has been sentenced to a maximum seven years in prison for chasing down a homeless man and beating him with a tire iron.

Pinkberry co-founder gets 7 years for beating homeless man

49-year-old Young Lee, a kickboxer turned architect turned yogurt shop entrepreneur, was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon for the June 2011 attack on Donald Bolding. The altercation apparently started when Bolding, who was panhandling on the side of the road, flashed a sexually explicit tattoo at Lee's car.

That's when Lee went off:

Lee was with his fiancee in his SUV on the Vermont Avenue offramp of the 101 in June of 2011 when he became enraged by a sexually explicit tattoo that Donald Bolding had. Bolding was panhandling on the side of the road at the time.

Lee apparently felt disrespected by the very sight of the tattoo, so he parked his SUV, walked over to Bolding and struck him twice in the head with a tire iron, screaming, "Apologize, you showed disrespect," City News Service reports. Witnesses actually had to stop Lee from beating Bolding further. Bolding suffered a broken arm and a concussion in the attack.
Lee helped found Pinkberry in 2005, but is no longer involved with the company. Maybe there's a frozen yogurt opportunity waiting for him in prison. Whatever the case, seven years is plenty of time to think why one shouldn't be a raging asshole and beat a homeless man with a tire iron.
