I recently heard about this film project that could some crowdfunding assistance... Dandekar Makes a Sandwich, written and directed by Leena Pendharkar, is a short, comedic film about a man who goes to the grocery store to gather the ingredients for the perfect sandwich, and makes an unlikely connection. The film stars Brian George, who Seinfeld fans might recognize as the Pakistani restaurateur Babu.
Here's the pitch video with some more information:
The film sounds like an interesting little dramedy, but the short also has some greater aspirations as the prequel to a future feature, Days with Dandekar:
Dandekar Makes a Sandwich is a prequel to the feature film, Days with Dandekar, slated for production in 2015. The screenplay was workshopped in the prestigious Film Independent Screenwriter's Lab, and was selected for Tribeca All Access. Through the short film, we can:
1) Establish Style and Tone: A short will give us the opportunity to make something high quality that shows what the feature will look/feel like. We will also have the chance to work with the actors and crew on a style and vision for the movie that is unique, interesting and truly stands out.
2) Build An Audience: Before we go out and raise the hundreds and thousands of dollars that is takes to make a feature film, we want to make a short film that gets seen in both festivals and online. This way we can build an audience, and develop potential relationships with distributors. We want to make sure our movie ultimately gets seen!
The cast and crew are set. The goal is to raise $7,000 by July 16. For further information, and to make a contribution to Dandekar Makes a Sandwich, visit the project's Indiegogo page.
