who will play caine?

Remember that movie remake of the 1970s TV series Kung Fu that was announced a little while back? The production has hired a director: Max Makowski Directing Kung Fu. We're doomed.

Okay, I don't know anything about this Makowski guy. It's just that the thought of a Kung Fu movie gives me bad vibes. Never forget! White man David Carradine starred in the role that originally created by and meant for Bruce Lee. Yes, we still haven't let that one go. Meanwhile, a new casting call has gone out looking for the lead role:
SYNOPSIS: Based on the 1970s TV series. During the 1880's, a half-Chinese Shaolin Monk roams America's western frontier in search of his American Father, but winds up incarcerated in an exceptionally harsh prison where he must use his martial arts skills to survive.

LOOKING FOR:

[CAINE] Male, 20-35. A handsome mix of East (Chinese/Asian) meets West (American). A man with the emotional capacity of a young Clint Eastwood. Charismatic and charming, Caine was raised by Shaolin monks after his mother's murder and became a highly skilled fighter. In addition to being a strong actor with the right look, the actor for this role should be athletic and although not required, some martial arts training, gymnastics or ballet are a plus.

SUBMISSIONS FOR ALL ROLES WILL BE CONSIDERED REGARDLESS OF ETHNIC GROUP, SEX, AGE, ETC.
Like I've said before, wouldn't it be perversely fitting if they cast a Carradine-esque white guy for this role? Sad, but this is what we have come to expect. Man, I don't know what I'm going to do if they actually cast an actor who is genuinely part or full Asian. That would be insane. The yellowface is such a big part of what I love to hate about Kung Fu. Could we actually see the real thing?

Then again, the casting call specifies that the role will be considered regardless of ethnic group, sex, age, etc. So hey, we might still see a white dude in this role. Love to hate, my friends.
