tea & justice: asian american women in law enforcement

We know there are a lot of Asian American cops out there, some of them even in high-ranking positions. But how many of those cops are Asian American women? There's of course Heather Fong, San Francisco's chief of police. But who else? Tea & Justice is a documentary by Ermena Vinluan that tells the story of three Asian American in law enforcement: Detective Agnes Chan, who became the NYPD's first Asian woman officer in 1980; Officer Trish Ormsby, Wall Street worker-turned-cop; and rookie Detective Christine Leung. In the film, the three share stories about their careers, their personal lives, the stereotypes they defied and how they persevered. It sounds like a pretty interesting documentary (though I kind of hate the title). View the trailer here. The film premieres this weekend at the Queens International Film Fesitval and at the Austin Asian Film Festival. To learn more about the film, go here.
