coming soon: jennifer 8. lee's fortune cookie chronicles

Here's an early review from Publisher's Weekly of Jennifer 8. Lee's upcoming book, The Fortune Cookie Chronicles: Adventures in the World of Chinese Food. I was able to get an early copy of the book myself (I'm about a third of the way through), and so far it's an entertaining, insightful read. The book is Jennifer's journey through the social and cultural history of Chinese food in America (and beyond), from the origins of the fortune cookie, to takeout menu wars, to General Tso's chicken, and more. There's an immense amount of history, backed with exhaustive research, as well as some really fun anecdotes tracing the author's travels. So far, I'm really enjoying it. I'll probably mention it again closer to the book's publication (and hopefully I'll have read the whole thing by then). The book is due for release in March, so keep an eye out for it.
