nbr names slumdog millionaire best film of the year

Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire has been named the best film of the year by the National Board of Review: "Slumdog Millionaire" Takes Top Prize From National Board of Review. The Board also awarded Slumdog best adapted screenplay honors for Simon Beaufoy, and best breakthrough actor for star Dev Patel.

The National Board of Review's honors are usually regarded as an early indicator of the films to watch for awards season. Last year, four of the five Academy Award nominees for Best Picture were featured in the NBR's top ten.

If you haven't Slumdog Millionaire yet, I can't recommend it enough. As you know, I liked it a lot. Without a doubt, one of the best movies I've seen this year. It really deserves all the acclaim its been getting, and it's a solid bet you'll be hearing more about it in the months to come.
